Everything You Need to Know About Instagram Guides
Instagram has launched a new format for sharing curated, scrollable content: Instagram Guides.
The new feature gives users an easier way to share and consume helpful recommendations and tips in an easy-to-digest format.

What Are Instagram Guides?
Guides are a brand new way to share and consume content on Instagram.
They allow users to follow a curated flow of posts with commentary — which is great for step-by-step guides, tips, and recommendations.
Initially, Instagram enabled the Guides feature for a select number of health and wellness advocates, in an effort to provide resources for people who are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But now, this feature is being rolled out to all users:

How to Create an Instagram Guide
To create your first Guide, tap the plus icon on the top-right of your profile page and select “Guide.”
From here, you can choose from 3 different Guide formats:
- Places: Recommend places in your city and beyond
- Products: Recommend your favorite products
- Posts: Recommend posts you created or saved
Each format is designed to suit a creator’s needs. Posts, for example, can be used to curate a thread of Instagram posts (that you’ve created or saved) with custom headlines and commentary.
This is a really versatile format that can be used to share inspirations, tell stories, and provide advice or guidance.
Products can only be used to curate products available in an Instagram Shop.
This is a great tool for brands or businesses looking to add extra context or commentary to their shoppable products on Instagram. It also opens up new opportunities for influencer partnerships, as anyone (including influencers and brand ambassadors) can use this tool to curate a list of recommended products.
Places is perfect for sharing your location-based recommendations, from city guides to restaurants and cafes.
Where to Find Instagram Guides
To access an Instagram Guide, visit a creator’s profile page and select the new Guides icon from the feed tab:
From here you will be able to see all of the Guides a creator has shared, much like how the IGTV tab works:
Guides can be easily shared to Instagram Stories or with other users by tapping the paper plane icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen:
This new feature is currently available through the Instagram Explore Page, as well as directly via a user’s profile.
Instagram Guides create a whole new way to curate and consume content on Instagram — opening up huge opportunities for story-telling and e-commerce on the app.
